I was in charge of doing the FX R&D for the early stages of the film. after first couple of months I focused on modelling Trees and Roots using L-Systems. Finally managed to build the toolset for procedurally modelling the same breed of trees as we had in the set. The toolset was the improved to do simulations, capturing and rendering. Next stage was modelling and simulating the mud for the treeWeapons of Cyclops where the roots were hanging from...
One of my main duties was to do the tree smashing FX. It was mainly pre-fracturing and running Rigid Body Simulations to explode the trees.
Finally, I've done Falling and Fracturing Stones for the Labyrinth sequence.
Briefly, It was pretty fun to be able to work on plenty of different things on one single project...
